design for the Togni one-family industrialised homeat the 10th Milan Triennale

1954 Milan

The house for four people was designed for the Togni system of lightweight prefabrication, made out of section irons. It is made up of three rectangular cores -the bedrooms, the living room, the kitchen-dining room linked by a corridor of irregular that variable form a new element in design that breaks down the rigidity of the layout. Moreover the cores are of different heights the living room is higher than the bedrooms and kitchen: in order for the house to maintain a constant profile at roof level, the profile is variable at ground level; the difference between levels in the interior produces a pleasing effect.
